inspired by...ryan korban

when people ask who my favorite designer is, i don't really have one, or its not the same perception, because i love getting inspiration from the designers home itself, not so much their work. i always feel bad not being able to answer their question like they short and sweetly want me to.

i think a designers own home says a lot ( architect, interior designer, fashion, industrial), and i always love it so much better, from what i've seen, compared to their professional works. its becuase its raw, often done with less money and over a longer period of time. its more grounded and deep-seated than the work for their clients. but the best residential interior designer, for me, can make their client's home look like they  collected a few objects over time, all and only the things they absolutely have loved, and tells their story through their home. also while leaving space to budge. natural and not so staged. i think it shouldn't look like a designer ever touched it.
personal, naturally sweet, imperfectly perfect, a little plain, 'ugly', worn, modest, archival. light but dark, or dark but light.
not pretty, handsome.

apologies, my thoughts were hard for me to condense or make any sense for this post. oh well... egh
